Period Kit

What is a period kit?

So, obviously a period kit is a kit full of anything you would need if your period takes you by surprise when you are traveling, or at school, or just anytime you are away from home and your period conveniently decides to come right then.

You can go out and just buy one of these online like on amazon, but I like to make my own at home because it’s not only cheeper, but you can also customize it to your own needs and also restock it anytime you need to. So today I’m going to give you some ideas on what exactly to put in your period kit. So without further ado, let’s get into it.

How to make it

First things first, you’ll need a bag to put everything in. Any kind of small bag works, but I would recommend a smallish toiletry or makeup bag like this ⬇️

They come in tons of different sizes, designs, colors, and brands, and are perfect for what we are doing.

Now that we have an actual place to put everything, let’s get into the items.

  1. Starting with the basics, you’ll of course need some pads and tampons. You can also put period underwear, period discs, or reusable pads if you prefer. But I recommend to always have some sort of tampon or disc in there in case you are going to swim.
  2. It’s always nice to also put a plastic zip lock bag in there so you have a place to put your stained underwear. And of course you’ll also need an extra pair of underwear.
  3. Panty liners-not necessarily for your period, but it’s always good to have these in there in case you are spotting or you have discharge that is UNCOMFORTABLY wet.
  4. You can also put some wipes in there so you can get cleaned up easier. These are always nice.
  5. And last, but not least some pain medication or essential oils for period pain. I would recommend a Roman Chamomile, Ginger, and Fennel essential oil blend if you want to do essential oils.

Notes:

Try and make sure that any pads or wipes you get are unscented. Unnatural fragrance can irritate your skin especially in such a tender area.

And about it! I hope this was helpful and I will also make another blog post about a Puberty emergency kit (which isn’t just for puberty, but it will just have more things that any girl might need while she is out and about), so stay in-tuned for that! I’m excited to talk to you more in the next blog post!

Hugs, 💕
