Hello! Let’s talk about self care,
Self care means…..well…self care! It means taking care of yourself, and it’s WAY more important than you may think.
One of the reasons why it’s SO very important to take care of yourself, is because if you’re not taking care of yourself it’s really difficult to stay happy. And if you’re happy, you’re healthy physically and mentally. As my mom always says, “Happy things happen to happy people.” And you HAVE to take care of yourself in order to be happy.
Another reason why self care is important is because YOU HAVE to love yourself BEFORE you love others. What that means, is it’s REALLY HARD to take care of others when you’re not already taken care of. Now, I’m NOT saying that you should be prideful, or selfish, or expect everyone to do what you want. I’m just saying that, lets say a friend wants to hang out, but you had a long day and/or you REALLY just don’t feel like it, IT’S OKAY TO SAY NO! It’s good to have boundaries and say no sometimes. We shouldn’t have to feel like we have to do everything the other person wants JUST to win their affection. BE YOU! I’m talking to you fellow teens and tweens! =) Again, it will be MUCH easier to be kind and take care of others if you are already taken care of.
Also, self care isn’t just having a spa day, and/or face masks. It can also be cleaning your room, making your bed, taking a shower, anything that is going to make you feel uplifted, happy, and fulfilled in the long run. Sometimes a spa day is really nice and EXACTLY what you need, but it can be hard to enjoy it if you don’t feel fulfilled, and haven’t taken care of your other needs.
Here are some things you can do to take care of yourself:
- Stay hydrated
- Eat good food
- Listen to happy music
- Go for a walk
- Streach
- Take a spa shower or bath (or normal shower or bath)
- Skincare (washing your face and moisturizing is just fine)
- Go outside
- Read
- Do an activity that you enjoy
- Learn something
- MAKE YOUR BED! (trust me)
- Clean your room
- ETC
